Mayan
About the Location: Mayan is an elven city nestled beside Lake Maya on Gooley Island, renowned for its deep harmony with nature. Surrounded by ancient forests and crystal-clear streams, its architecture is crafted from wood and stone, blending seamlessly into the land. Temples and spiritual sanctuaries dot the city, honoring natural forces and ancestral reverence. Mayan thrives with art, music, and tradition, and its open-air markets overflow with finely made goods from natural materials. Both a cultural haven and a spiritual retreat, Mayan offers a tranquil refuge for those seeking beauty, wisdom, and connection to the living world.

Terrain Outline: This battle map uses two levels, with water being the lower level. The green teleportation circle is the player entry point, and the red teleportation circle leads to the arena. The white borders are wall tiles, the trees are climbing tiles (NOT obstacle tiles), and the purple-roofed buildings are enclosure tiles. The water-tree tiles are special terrain tiles: creatures inside these tiles can hide as though there is no line of sight to them, and they may be climbed to get over adjacent wall tiles.
Quest Briefing: Rumors ripple through Mayan: something stirs beneath the glassy surface of Lake Maya. Fishermen speak of vanishing nets and guttural roars echoing through the morning fog. The elders fear an ancient guardian has awoken, disturbed by too much activity along the sacred banks. Track the signs, investigate the waters, and if the creature is real—decide whether to drive it off, or discover what it’s trying to protect. Proof of having injured the beast will earn you a reward from the city watch, though some believe harming it may only bring greater misfortune.
